The morning sounds of the bird calls open this week's installment. Also making an appearance is the now near-ubiquitous sound of rumbling cement trucks.

My neighborhood, like the Ship of Theseus, is being transformed one house at a time, but instead of replacing each existing piece with an identical replacement, our front yards are replaced by private pools, the sidewalks give way to tall stucco walls, and one story modesty is eclipsed by ascending glass panes of sheer bravado.
