Porch Swing Orchestra

"Slow bell" refers to the signal once used in nautical navigation –
a method for indicating the ship's speed instructions between the ship
pilot and engine room. It can also refer to a bell rung slowly at
a funeral to signify sorrow and commemorate a death, a practice
known as tolling.

I recorded the guitar melodies on the beach in Galveston, Texas.
Later, the recording was layered with lap steel, piano, and bass synth.

The audio originally was created for and accompanied a solo exhibition
of photographs for the Galveston Art Center, curated by Dennis Nance.
My mom passed not long before preparing work for the show.
She loved Galveston, and this work is a tribute to her.
